Flying with Pets by Private Jet

Flying with Pets by Private Jet makes it possible for the pet to fly along their owners in the cabin, rather than in the baggage hold.

We are often asked whether pets can travel along with the owner on their Private Jet charter flight, along with them in the cabin.

The answer is simple and an absolute yes! There are a few things to consider before going on a Private Jet journey with a pet and our team makes every effort to ensure that the journey is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

For a pet, flying can be a traumatic experience and that is especially the case with commercial flights. With a Private Jet charter, this trauma can be minimized with the calming presence of their owners.

Flying across borders with pets

Within the European Union, pets can travel freely between Countries with only one exception. For every flight with a pet towards the Balearics, a stop needs to be made in Palma de Mallorca before the journey can continue to either Menora or Ibiza.

Apart from this very special case, pets can enter every country with no further ado.

It goes without saying that a EU pet passport is required at all times within the European Union.

Entering the United Kingdom with pets

There have been some changes to regulations since the United Kingdom left the European Union formally on the 1st of January 2021.

When entering the United Kingdom by Private Jet from the European Union, not just the owner of the pet needs to present his passport (not an ID card). Also, the pet requires an Animal Health Certificate (AHC).

Additionally to the pet travel document, for travel in either direction (including flights to non-EU-member states) the following checklist needs to be completed before traveling with a pet:

  • Has a microchip
  • Has been vaccinated against rabies
  • Has had a tapeworm treatment in the case of dogs (a few countries are exempt from this requirement)

When entering the United Kingdom with a pet the choice of the arrival airport is important too. Not every airport has the facilities to check the above-mentioned checklist. Additionally, not every Airline is approved by each Airport. However, that’s nothing to worry about. The Air Charter Consultant will guide to the closest airport and the right Private Jet airline.

Here’s a list of dedicated airports in the United Kingdom who do accept private charter flights with pets:

  • Blackpool
  • Bristol
  • Cambridge
  • Doncaster
  • Edinburgh
  • Gloucestershire
  • Leeds Bradford
  • London Biggin Hill
  • London Farnborough
  • London Gatwick
  • London Oxford
  • London Luton
  • London RAF Northolt
  • London Stansted
  • London Heathrow
  • Manchester

Flying with pets in the United States of America

There are just some minor rules to consider when flying with a pet in the USA. The US Department of Transportation and the Department of Agriculture have the following guidelines for flying with pets within the USA:

  • Dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks old
  • Animals must have been weaned
  • Require proof of rabies vaccination

Each state in the United States of America may implement its own, specific rules. Those are mainly existing and obtained from the Centres of Disease Control (CDC).
